Forever in our Hearts
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Davin Galandie – our son, father, friend and confidant. He was also known as Davs or Davino Crunch – on Tuesday, January 12, 2021.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving parents Dean and Dianne Galandie (Flaman); children Dylan (Arabella), Delila, Layla; his brother Darin; his sister Daena (Brent); his brother Deon (Jodie); nephews Dayton, Daulton, Jade, Ty and nephew-in-law Brayden. He had several uncles, aunts and cousins which he loved. Special to him were his Uncle Del and Aunty Brenda, his Godparents.
Davin was born in Regina, SK on September 5, 1975. He was the third of 4 children.
Davin never married but was always there as a strong partner and parent. Davin grew up in Regina and had lots of friends that he called his buddies. He was a proud man and was passionate about his work. For many years he operated his own exterior business. One of his most proud accomplishments was completely refinishing the exterior on his parents’ home. Later he achieved remarkable success as a company dispatcher for the family business, Provincial Courier Service. He loved what he did and met many more friends every day with work. He would not hesitate to speak his mind and could naturally approach anyone to strike up a great and meaningful conversation.
Creating and building his family was Davin’s greatest accomplishment in life. He was always doing everything he could to better their lives. He called his daughters his Princesses and treated them like it too. He would not compromise, he wanted nothing but the best of the best for those he held close to his heart. His family knew that they were his entire world, he made every person feel special in the moment and he never faltered in his role as a father and a son.
Davin and his friends held a lifelong, very special relationship. They spent lots of time together and have all been close since high school. They will remember his generosity, whether it be with advice, mentorship or service, his good company and that he always loved to help a friend or neighbour. Along with his great smile and beard, he gave the best hugs, told the best stories and always knew what to say in the moment. He had no shortage of love to give and he meant so much to so many people for his huge heart.
Davin loved the beach and nature. Fortunately he took his family on many great vacations to various destinations in Mexico, Las Vegas, Cuba, Disney World and The Calgary Stampede. There he saw Stompin Tom, one of his favourite singers and told everyone about it. Then he would sing “Bud the Spud from the bright red mud” and start stomping his foot along to the beat. He belonged on the sand and expressed to his mother that it was his dream to live the rest of his days out at the beach. He was passionate about fishing, boating, playing horse shoes and golfing. He even hit a hole in 1 on a professional golf course- He was so proud and he would always boast his achievement. He was a thrill seeker and would hop on a roller coaster over and over again once the line was free.
Recently he has been working on tuning up his very own fishing boat and ice shack, he would not rest until his projects were perfect. He spent the last 8 months sharing many of his adventures with Jill and they made some cherished memories together. His favourite foods were Lobster, Shrimp, Steak and Sushi. He organized many extravagant feasts and all you can eat shrimp nights. Sometimes he ate so much we didn’t know where he was putting it. He loved to cook and he was the barbecue master. His steaks were done to perfection, and his triple glazed chicken breast was a hidden wonder – they tasted amazing.
He was very proud of his gorgeous beard which he started growing 6 years ago for Movember. It then became a permanent part of him. His siblings called him “Bin Davin”. He loved the Roughriders and the Vancover Canucks. He loved Craven and was passionate about music, he would make it a ritual to camp there each year. Davin also loved to sit around the campfire; with his buddies enjoying a beer or two; or paralyzers.
Davin lived his life to the fullest making every moment of every day count. He was a good son, a great loving and caring father and a hard worker. He was a good uncle, cousin and nephew and loved all his children, family, relatives and friends whole heartedly. We are so proud of him and all his accomplishments. Until we meet again Davin, enjoy your journey of everlasting life. We are very grateful that God blessed us with you. You are truly one of a kind and one in a million. We will love you forever.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation (www.heartandstrokefoundation.ca.) Private Funeral Mass will be held.
