Mr. Daniel Crawford
It is with sad hearts we announce that Dan Crawford lost his brave battle with cancer. At the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on Saturday July 24th, 2021, Dan Crawford of Chatham passed away at the age of 63 years. Cherished son of the late Roy and Marie (Boone) Crawford. Devoted husband of Carole (Shaw) Crawford. Loving father to Mark (Jennifer) Crawford, and Laura (Jason) Pinsonneault. Special and fun Papa to Cole, Georgia, Ryan, and Connor. Dependable son-in-law to Ron and Jacie (Dixon) Shaw. Beloved brother to Debby (Jim Glassford) Lindsay, Dave (Jackie) Crawford, Doug (Yvonne) Crawford. Dear brother-in-law to Steven (Janice) Shaw. Predeceased by sister Doris (Calvin) Carrothers. Dan will be missed by many nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts and uncle, and friends. Dan worked at Crown Metal Packaging for over 34 years and fondly referred to it as the “Hell Hole”. Dan loved to boat/fish, skidoo, hike with family, exercise, and lift weights (and he had the muscles to prove it). He also loved to work on his well manicured yard and cruise around in the car that he bought used when he was 17 years old-a beautiful red 1972 Pontiac Le Mans Sport-and yes there were many burnouts! Dan was a big-tough guy but turned to mush when his grandchildren were around him. He would do whatever they wanted and would do anything to make them laugh. Family and friends are invited to Alexander & Houle Funeral Home, 245 Wellington St. West, Chatham, 519-352-2710 on Wednesday July 28th, 2021, with visiting from 2 to 4 pm, and 7 to 9 pm. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, you must schedule your visitation time in advance by calling the funeral home at (519) 352-2710. All attendees as mandated by the Bereavement Authority of Ontario must wear a mask at all visitations and funerals. A family memorial service for Dan will be streamed live from the funeral home on Thursday July 29th, 2021, at 1 pm with Rev. Paul McPhail officiating. Cremation has taken place. Interment Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham. Friends planning an expression of remembrance are asked to consider the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority.
