Verboom, Cornelia “Cora” – Age 90, Oakfield, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2021. Cora was born in the town of Moordrecht, the Netherlands. Cora and her late husband, Cornelis “Cees”, immigrated to Nova Scotia, Canada in 1955. Cora was an active member of the community of Middle Musquodoboit where she lived for over 60 years.
Cora loved singing, knitting, puzzling and gardening. She was famous in the family for her hand knit “Oma socks” which family members proudly wore while living around the world in Mongolia, Latvia, New Zealand, Germany, Georgia, British Columbia and Ontario.
Cora is survived by her children and their spouses, Jacob “Jim” and Karen Verboom, Peggy and David Frizzell, Marian Verboom Doucette and Eric Doucette, and Paul and Melanie Verboom; her 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband and all of her eight sisters and four brothers.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to Marian and Eric for the loving care they provided to Cora over the last 3 years.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations would be appreciated to Middleton United Church or a charity of your choice.
