It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Christos Markou on March 4th, 2021 at the Montreal General Hospital, McGill University Health Centre, aged 81 years after a long battle with Parkinson’s. He will be greatly missed by his beloved wife of 53 years Evridiki “Vicky” Markou, his sons Nick (Carolyn) and Tim (Chantal), his precious grandchildren Jacob and Ella, his sister Helen (Christos) and brother in law Hercules (Athena). Predeceased by his sister Vasso (John) his brothers Peter (Helen) and George (Maria), his brother in law Christos (Frederica) and sister in law Nikki (Harry)
Chris was a Denturologist for over 40 years and had practices in Montreal QC, Lachute QC, Riviere Beaudette, QC. St. Regis, QC / Akwesasne and Cornwall ON. His patients were his life and he always spoke of meeting the most wonderful people in his office! Born in Greece in 1939, his childhood years during the war and post-war were difficult. After serving 4 years in the Greek Military where he became a tank commander and sniper, Chris immigrated to Montreal, Canada where he worked his way through school to earn his Denturology accreditation. He was very active politically in the 1970s and 80s to promote labour mobility across provinces in Canada. Chris was also privately extremely generous in helping underprivileged youth, reflecting on the early struggles he had experienced in his own youth. In later years Chris enjoyed travel and he often spent summers in Greece. In memory of Chris and in lieu of flowers, Generous donations to either Parkinson’s Canada or your local youth charity would be appreciated by the family.
