ROBERTS, Charles Burton Jr. “Hot Dog” – On December 15, 2020, Charles passed away unexpectedly at sea. Charles had a love for his family and treasured his wife Darlene and his son, Daniel as well as his late son, Zackery, who went to be with the Lord five years ago. Born December 10, 1962 in Boston, Mass. and raised in Yarmouth, Charles was a son of the late Charles “Chuck” and Mable (Allen) Roberts. Charles’ second home was the ocean. Since the age of 14, he has proudly fished the great seas with determination. Charles, better known as “Hot Dog”, was said to be the best left-handed shucker with the most unique technique anyone had ever seen. Over his many years of fishing, he had taken many young men under his wing, showing them the ropes. Although he did leave the fishing industry for two years to work in British Columbia, his love for the sea brought him back home. He will be forever missed, but his infectious laugh and his handsome smile will never be forgotten. Aside from his wife Darlene (Campbell) Roberts and a son, Daniel Roberts, he is survived by sisters, Darlene Roberts-Carter, Cornwallis and Anne Roberts-Forbes, Hebron; a brother, Darold Roberts, Red Deer, AB; sister-in-law, Donna Campbell, Yarmouth; brothers-in-law, Donald Campbell and David Campbell, both of Grosses Coques; nephews, Tyler Harris Carter, Halifax; Stephen Carter, Cornwallis; Josh Forbes, Hebron; Steffan Roberts, Red Deer, AB; nieces, Alicia Roberts, Whitney Roberts, both of Red Deer, AB; special nieces, Janelle and Natasha Campbell. Aside from his parents and his son Zackery, he was also predeceased by his mother-in-law, Roseanne Campbell. A celebration of Charles’ life will take place at 11 a.m., Friday, February 5 from the Yarmouth Wesleyan Church, Pastor AJ Plazier officiating (the service will be livestreamed…details to follow). Please note that masks are mandatory, social distancing guidelines are in effect and seating will be limited to 100 people at the church, with family being given priority for seating. Memorial donations may be made to the Yarmouth Wesleyan Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to H.M.
