Carroll Kinsbur
Wilcox – 91, Valley,
Colchester County. The passing of Carroll Wilcox of occurred on
Tuesday, August 17, 2021. Born in Black’s Harbour, New
Brunswick, he was a son of the late Earle and Ethel (Leavitt)
Wilcox.
Carroll attended Bethany Bible College in Yarmouth, and it
was while at Bethany he met the love of his life, Neata (MacNeill);
they were married on August 3, 1957. Carroll worked at Dominion
Grocery stores in the produce department and then started work at
Colchester East Hants Public Library, driving the Book Mobile which
brought books to communities and schools all over Colchester-East
Hants County. He drove the bookmobile for many years and then changed
over to become the Custodian at the library until he
retired.
Carroll was a faithful member of Truro Wesleyan Church, now
called Connection Church. He served on the board for many years, was
Sunday School Superintendent, helped with young people, served as
janitor, ran sound and recorded the messages. Carroll and Neata loved
their cottage at Beulah Camp in New Brunswick. Neata and the boys
would spend many summers at Beulah. Carroll would work all week, leave
work, stop at KFC and come up for the weekend all summer long. It was
their second home, and a place of spiritual renewal and peace. Carroll
loved his wife and his family.
Carroll is survived by his loving wife, Neata (MacNeill);
children, Paul, Bancroft, Ontario; Stephen (Marina), Truro; David
(Dawn), Hartland, New Brunswick; Jamie, Truro; Greg (Tina), North Bay,
Ontario; grandchildren, Josiah, Jason, Andrew, Katie, Kaitlyn,
Rebecca, Danielle, Ashley, Kylah and Ryan; eight great grandchildren;
sisters, Mary Doucette, Marie Wilcox, Alice (Murray) Thorne; special
niece, Karen MacNeill; Along with his parents, he was predeceased by
his daughter-in-law, Leslie; sisters, Ida, Hazel; brother,
Leo.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall –
Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Carroll’s
family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Sunday, August 22, 2021.
(Please use the front double doors of the funeral home, wear a mask,
register and practice physical distancing.) Funeral service will be
held 2 p.m., Monday, August 23, 2021, at Mattatall – Varner
Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, Pastor Luke Anderson
officiating.
(Due to Covid-19 restrictions, seating is
limited and you must pre-register to attend the funeral service by
calling 902-893-3177; thank you for your cooperation and
understanding. Webcasting of the
funeral service will begin at 1:55 p.m., Monday, August 23, 2021 and
will remain on this site for some
time.)
Interment in Watson Cemetery, 1997 East Prince Street, Truro.
