Obituary for
Brian Yaremko
Brian lived a full life with zest and energy, but his life was cut short on August 19, 2021 at age 61 after a fourteen month courageous battle with cancer.
He grew up in the west end of Edmonton and raised his family near these roots. He leaves to mourn his wife and life partner, Christine; and dear children, daughter Rachel; and son, Theodore; his mother, Lorraine; brother, Greg (Melissa); sister, Donna; and several nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his father, John; and brother, Wayne.
Brian attended Archbishop Macdonald Highschool and went on to work with EPCOR Water for 41 years. Many of his friendships from his school days have lasted a lifetime. Throughout the years, he and his group of friends enjoyed many good times, in most recent years the Folk Festival and Blues Fest.
Brian was passionate about spending time with his wife and children. Embracing each day spent together as a family and sharing an endless number of special moments together. Memorable moments together include, holidays, celebrations, travel, children’s activities, relaxing days in the backyard, and the daily stories, events and accomplishments around the dinner table. His wife and children dearly miss him and will forever hold a place for Brian in their hearts.
Brian was dedicated and enjoyed riding his motorcycle. For the past 25 years, he took time every summer for a motorcycle ride to the Kootenay’s in B.C with friends from Alberta and Saskatchewan. Fortunately, this past July Brian was still able to attend the annual adventure to the Kootenay’s, albeit by car and not his new motorcycle as he had hoped, with his wife Christine.
Brian’s family and friends will miss him dearly and all the love, support, commitment, generosity, and of course his sense of humour he provided each day.
A Funeral Mass for Brian will be held on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 10 a.m. at St. Basil’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 7007 – 109 Street, Edmonton with lunch to follow. Attendees are requested to wear facemasks.
A visitation will be held on Friday, September 3, 2021 from 5:45 p.m. – 7 p.m. at Park Memorial, 9709 – 111 Avenue, Edmonton. The inurnment, following cremation as Brian wished, will be Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at 3 p.m. at Holy Cross Cemetery, 14611 Mark Messier Trail, Edmonton.
