Obituary
BANUSH, Brian Alexander- It is with profound sadness that our family announces the death of our much loved family patriarch Brian Banush, 76, after a courageous battle with cancer with family by his side on Tuesday, March 9, at Sakura House in Woodstock.
Brian described his life as extraordinary. He was the rock and the mentor for his four daughters and he was an especially proud grandpa to a blended family of fourteen grandchildren. He raised four daughters with his wife Diane, who he met and married in their hometown of Winnipeg in 1965. After Diane passed , he found new love and laughter with Susan, and they married in 2010.
A gifted storyteller, Brian was known for his unique personality and larger than life presence. In fact, he earned the nickname “Big Guy” honestly. He was the happiest when he was encircled with his large family and his many, many friends across the country. An avid golfer, he was known for his talent on the course but also his sense of style and ability to make everyone laugh until their cheeks hurt.
He travelled with his family and enjoyed many worldwide trips with both Diane and Sue. There were many amazing memories made at the family cottage in Long Point for over 40 years and more recently in Mexico, where both he and Sue and his beloved pup Tico found their paradise away from their home in Woodstock.
As a successful business owner in Toronto, Brian was able to retire at 50 and enjoy many years with his family and golf buddies many of which he considered his brothers.
Predeceased by Diane Banush ( 2004), survived by Susan Fenlon, of Woodstock. Best Dad on the planet to Christine (Trevor), Bonnie (Brad) , Heather ( Ryan ), and Rosie (Rich). Adored stepdad to Brody (Heather) , Ben, and Nicole (BJ). Out of this world proud grandpa to Trisha (Kyle) Laura (Darcy), Nikki (Chris) , Ben, Hailey (Victor), Sydney (Justin), Torin, Holly, Liam, Noah, Ross, Cadence, Nevaeh, and Rayna.
Friends are invited to meet with the family at the Brock and Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock (519-539-0004) on Thursday, March 18, 2021 from 2-4pm and 6-8 pm. Visitors are required to RSVP for the visitation on the funeral home website, spaces are limited. A private family service will take place at a later date. If desired, memorial donations to Sakura House would be appreciated and may be arranged through the funeral home.
