Brendt Rau July 24 1962 March 5 2021

In Loving Memory Of
Brendt Rau
It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of the most loving man, Brendt Paul Rau, on Friday, March 5, 2021, at the age of 58 years. He left us way too soon with his loving wife of 37 years, Cindy, by his side. His outside voice was that of a grizzly bear but had the heart and soul of a teddy bear.
Brendt was born July 24, 1962, in Rocky Mountain House, AB. Brendt spent his early years travelling around the world and had his first passport at the age of three. He lived in Trinidad and Tobago, England, Iran, Angola, and West Africa before moving back to Canada full time in 1972. He was proud to of lived in all those places and would reminisce often.
Brendt had a passion for sports, he started playing baseball at a young age in Angola and continued to thrive, which led to winning the Barrhead Bantam Provincial Championships in 1977 (second base). In curling, he won zones in 1979. Anyone who knew Brendt knew he was a fierce competitor.
He married in 1985 and started a family. He worked at North End Auto Body and became a Red Seal journeyman. Brendt stayed with the Johnson family for 22 years. He ventured into the oil patch, where he became a Down Hole Tool specialist, which turned into him owning his own tool company.
Brendt enjoyed collecting coins, watching wrestling and any other sport (even darts). He loved country music, especially John Wayne and Stompin Tom Connors. By far, his favourite time was holiday dinners spent with his family and friends in his home.
He leaves behind his loving wife Cindy; daughters Trisha and Terynn (Dustin Veldkamp); sons Branden (Megan) and Bryce (Kenneth Anderson); grandson Austin whom he doted on; sister Brenda (Ray Crisler); younger brother Bruce; newly found sister Louise Johnson; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many lifelong friends.
Brendt was predeceased by his parents Paul and Karen Rau (2012); in-laws Frank and June Williams (1997); brothers and sisters-in-law: Harvey and Joy Underwood, Lee Williams, Linda Lynn, and Margo Hutchinson.
A true Canadian through and through, we will miss him dearly.
In Brendt’s own words, “Bye Bye and Buy Bonds.”
A celebration of Brendt’s life will be held at a later date.
Memorial donations to Brendt’s favourite charity may be made to The War Amps (1 Maybrook Drive, Scarborough, ON, M1V 5K9).
