Jones, Betty E (nee Henry)
1925-2021
In her 96th year, peacefully passed surrounded by family at Hazeldean Gardens Retirement Home in Stittsville on Thursday July 24, 2021.
Beloved wife of husband Ken Jones (2012) – 60 years. Loving mother of Kevin (Trish) and Ross (Dale). Proud grandmother to Ashley Onesi (nee Jones) (John), Gavin (Alicia), Scott, Julia Jones and great grandmother to Emilia, Calvin (Onesi), Knox and Kylo (Jones). Predeceased by her parents Cedric and Sadie Henry (nee Lahue), and sister Beryl McTavish (nee Henry) (Ted) and brother Hollis.
Betty was a kind, gentle woman, with a beautiful spirit. She cherished life’s simple moments; a phone call, greeting card, photo of her loved-ones, a slice of thanksgiving pumpkin-pie, a drive to see the Fall colours or tea with a close friend. She was a selfless caretaker, raising a family, caring for her husband, grandchildren, extended family as well as volunteering at St. Mary’s Hospital (Kitchener). In her later years, she faced personal health challenges head-on with a positive attitude and not a single complaint.
In her younger days, she would read seven books in a week and the daily papers front and back. She was up to date on current events and could challenge any accountant with her financial knowledge. Betty was a strong, smart woman, yet, soft and humble.
The most endearing part of Betty’s personality was how smart and witty she was. She had a fabulous sense of humour that complimented her sweet smile just perfectly. Betty will be missed dearly, and her kindness and generosity will live on through the many lives she touched.
A special thanks to the staff, nurses and PSWs at Hazeldean Gardens for their love, friendship, compassion, and care during her 2 ½ years as a resident.
