Bertwell’s Obituary
MAGEE, Bertwell Charles ~ Age 88, of Melvern Square, Annapolis Co., passed away on Thursday, September 9, 2021, at home. Born on September 12, 1932, in Greenwood Square, Kings Co., he was a son of the late Lester and Olive (Marshall) Magee.
Bert’s career spanned nearly half a century with the same company, Hoover. He started with them as a young man selling vacuum cleaners door to door and throughout his career with Hoover he worked in the service, sales, retail and commercial divisions of the company but he spent most of his career as National Sales Manager. The numerous promotions, expanded territories and scope of responsibilities with the company required him to move a half dozen times, but spending most of his career living in Mississauga Ontario. Upon retirement he fulfilled a promise to his wife Margaret and moved back east to Nova Scotia to spend the rest of their lives together.
Bert loved to tinker and fix anything that broke, play shuffle board, pool and cards. Despite time logged on the road for work, there was never any doubt that Bert, always loved to spend time with family and friends discussing work, careers and life… always interested in catching up and found joy in other’s successes and happiness.
Beloved and will be lovingly missed, Bert is survived by sons Brian, Roy, Allen (Christine), Tim (Lisa), Gary (Katherine) and Jeffery; nine grandchildren, several great grandchildren and brother Bev (Sheila).
In addition to his parents, Bert was predeceased by his beloved wife, Margaret M. Freeman; sister Thelma, brothers: Cyril, Carroll, Wayne and Byron.
There will be no visitation. Funeral service will take place at 2 p.m., Sunday, September 19 , in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street , toll free 1-855-825-3448 . Due to gathering restrictions masking, social distancing and hand sanitizing are required. Interment will follow in North Kingston Cemetery.
