Our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and good friend
to many, passed away on Friday, February 5, 2021, at the age of 74,
after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Gibson Woods, Bayfield
was the son of the late Roy and Reta (Burgess) States. He is survived
by his wife, Marilyn; sons, Leroy (Leona), Winnipeg; Adam, Canning;
daughters, Kim States, Kentville; Kelly (André) Carrier,
Coldbrook; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. As well, he
is survived by his granddaughter, Sahara, who always doted on her
«Poppie»; brother, Clifford
«Allen»; sisters, Pauline, Maxine and Gloria, all of
Gibson Woods; Dolly, Sackville and Barbara, North Preston. Besides his
parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Robert, Ronald and Delancey;
sisters, Joan and Betty and granddaughter, Skye. After spending some
years living and working in Winnipeg, Bayfield returned to Kentville
where he worked at Murray Power’s Irving Station, was a
bartender and assistant manager at The Wagon Wheel, and owned his own
lawn care business. He was later employed at Camp Aldershot until his
retirement in 2012. Cremation has taken place. Due to the COVID-19
pandemic and travel restrictions, there will be no visitation or
funeral service. A private graveside service will be held at a later
date. The family would like to thank the VON members, doctors and all
those who took exceptional care of Bayfield. A special thanks to his
good friend and neighbour, Russell. Donations in memory may be made to
SPCA – Kings Branch or the Canadian Cancer Society.
