Barry was, born August 11, 1939 in Peterborough, On. passed away February 17, 2021 at 7:00 am at his home in Victoria with his wife Edna at his side following a battle with throat cancer.
In 1961 Barry joined the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. His career with the Force took him to Nova Scotia, Swift Current and Saskatoon, and the rest of his distinguished career at HQ, Ottawa. He was an outstanding Training Officer in the Training Branch for 17 years until 1984 when he joined Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) to retirement in 1993. Barry was the recipient of a Long Service Medal with the RCMP. In his career, Barry guarded Pope John Paul II and Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau. Barry lived his life with a profound sense of duty and respect for all.
Barry was a dedicated Dad to three sons, Darryl (Estelle), Michael (Nancy), Andrew and daughter Janelle (Kevin), grandchildren, Emily, Matthew, Rhys, Owen, Jakob and Will. Barry is survived by brother, Brent (Barb), sisters, Megan (Tom) Endicott and Gaye (Wayne) Campanaro.
He was a beloved stepfather to Mary Alice Webb (Steven Haws), Gerard (Corinne) McCarthy and Anita McCarthy. He enjoyed 5 step grandsons and 7 great grandchildren.
A Celebration of life will be determined at a later date.
