Obituary of Arthur Lewis Reid
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Arthur (Art) Lewis Reid announce his peaceful passing on January 18, 2021 at his home in Bishop’s Falls, NL.
He is predeceased by his parents Thomas and Hazel; his loving wife Violet; son Cyril; brothers: Allan, Don, Ralph, Wallace, and Weldon; and sisters; Violet Voutier, Mary Bennett, Pearl Reid and two infant girls.
Left to mourn are his sons: Allan (Helen) and Ralph (Shirley); daughters: Elizabeth Wall (Gerard) and Diane; daughter-in-law Pats; 11 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; brothers: Thomas (Shirley), Cecil (Donna), Fred (Maxine); and sisters: Daisy Carter (Albert), Madeline Ford (Phil); Jean Fildes (Vic) and Ruby Callahan (Ron).
Art was born on April 11, 1927 in Bishop’s Falls, NL. He was a faithful and dedicated soldier of the Salvation Army Citadel, Bishop’s Falls, having received Christ on January 4, 1977.
For Art, his proudest moments were time spent with family and friends and enjoying fellowship at his church. He loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren more than life itself.
Following the COVID 19 restrictions visitation will be held on Wednesday, Janurary 20th 2 -4 PM from Hoskins Funeral Home, Bishop’s Falls. Majors David and Wavey Chaulk will conduct the memorial service on Thursday, January 21, at 2 PM from the Salvation Army Citadel, Bishop’s Falls. Service is by invitation only and will be live streamed with details to follow. Burial will follow at the Bishop’s Falls Salvation Army Cemetery. Pallbearers are son Ralph Reid, grandson Steven Wall, great-grandsons Kevin Cross and Brady McDonald, and grandsons-in-law Jamie Hannon and Martin McDonald. Honorary Pallbearers are son-in-law Gerard Wall, great granddaughters Amanda Fizzard and Madison Fancey.
No flowers by request and donations in his memory can be made to the Bishop’s Falls Salvation Army Citadel.
