Obituary of Alvin Henry Rice
Rice, Alvin Henry – 88, formerly of Lake La Rose, Annapolis County, passed away September 18, 2021, in Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown. Born January 16, 1933, in Lake La Rose, he was the only son of the late Thomas and Irene (Ramsey) Rice.
Alvin was a hardworking, yet soft spoken man with an incredible work ethic. He started his working career with the Department of Transportation in Nova Scotia. In 1967, he moved his family to Edmonton, so he could work out there. He worked many years with Voice Construction, before he started his own successful construction business which he happily ran until retirement. In 1991, Alvin returned home to Nova Scotia to care for his elderly mother.
He was a great provider for his family, who were always #1 to him. He was a man with great patience and never seems to be upset by anything. Alvin loved to hunt and fish, and play darts, bowling and crib; but above all spending time with his children, which lead them to camping as much as possible.
Alvin is survived by sons, Michael A. (Trish) and Kent D. (Leah), both of Sherwood Park, Alberta; daughter, Deborah L., of Lake La Rose; grandchildren, Heather (Wayne), Kyle (Meagan), and Jordan (Brittany); great grandchildren, Demi (Eli), Rhett, Ryken, Ford; great great grandson, Bradley; step great great granddaughters, Ryleigh and Kyleigh.
Besides his parents, Alvin was predeceased by his wife, Helen; great grandson, Tyler.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal. A graveside service will be held 11 am Thursday September 23, 2021 at St. Marks Anglican Cemetery, Perotte, with Rev. Falen McNulty officiating. A Celebration of Life will be held next summer when family is able to gather. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lung Association of Nova Scotia.
