Allen James’ Obituary
Cooper, Allen James – Age 70 of Weymouth, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, December 30, 2021, after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Born in Tangier, he was a son of the late Thomas and Lola (Palmer) Cooper.
Allen was a devoted husband to Odette Cooper Dugas, Weymouth; adoring Dad to Stephanie Gavel, Weaver Settlement; doting Grampy to Sophia and Sabrina; dear brother to Gary (Karen), Wayne (Grace), both of Weymouth; Cheryl Cooper, Bridgewater; Marina Cooper (Dianne MacNeil), Kentville; Helen (George) Cooper Manzer, Weymouth; and Rhea Cooper, Halifax. He was predeceased by a brother, Layton, Picton, Ontario.
Allen was a shining beacon of light, optimism and good cheer. He had a deep set center of goodness, caring and warmth that was easily brought to the surface and was instinctly sensed, especially by children. He also had a quirky talent of putting at ease the meanest dog or most aloof cat. He will be remembered fondly and with great love.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Meteghan Funeral Home. As per Allen’s wishes, no funeral service will be held.
Allen loved old and vintage objects, starting in his youth with vintage cars and continuing into retirement with yard sale, barn and estate collectables. So, in lieu of flowers, please remember Allen by rescuing and upcycling a once useful item or donating unwanted/unneeded objects to goodwill or thrift charities.
