Albert Charles Toney
1959-2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Albert
Charles Toney, who passed away on Sunday, June, 20, 2021, at the age
of 62, leaving to mourn family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine; his dog Jack, his
children, Bradley (Edna), Lorna (Brett), Tyler (Bern), and Evan
(Cass); four grandchildren, Claire Bear, Drax, Tyler, and Jaxson; his
godchildren, Sean Francis and Donna Marie Ibbitson; siblings, Juanita
Paul (late Dan J.), Grace Paul (Joe Mike), Jacqueline Toney, Benedict
Toney (Jessie), Bartholomew Toney; his sister-in-law, Laura
«Elizabeth» Toney and numerous nieces and
nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Benjamin Charles and Susan
Toney (Googoo); his siblings, Dianne Toney, John Toney, Lena Bernard,
Lloyd Toney and Fabian Toney.
Albert was an employee of We’koqma’q
First Nations band, for many years. In his early years he worked as a
fishery guardian and recently in communications. In his early years he
was employed by parks Canada as a tour guide for Alexander Graham Bell
Site, A park warden for Cape Breton National Park and Kejimkujik
National. He was hard worker and loves his jobs, namely Georgia
Pacific where he had many fond memories of. One of his biggest hobbies
in his life was photography. He was a good man, great father and loved
his grandchildren dearly.
Visitation will be after 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 1, in
We’koqma’q Community Centre, 15 Reservation Rd.,
We’koqma’q First Nation. Funeral mass will be 10
a.m. Saturday, July 3, from Blessed Kateri Parish,
We’koqma’q First Nation with Father Conrad Edwards
officiating. Cremation will follow with burial in the parish cemetery
at a later date.
