Henderson, Alan Roy –
Passed away peacefully on December 23, 2021, at the age of 70 after a brief battle with cancer.
Alan was lovingly devoted to his wife, Carla, and family, Jill Patterson (Richard Merk) and grandson Henry. He is predeceased by parents John and Leni, survived and lovingly remembered by his siblings Pam, Albert (Helen), Margie (Alasdair), John (Rita) and Leslie (Charlie), and mourned by his Canadian relatives who loved him dearly. A life-long advocate for rescue dogs, Alan also leaves behind his best buddy, Keschie the Bernese Mountain Dog.
Born in Davos, Switzerland, Alan arrived in Canada 35 years ago and made Puslinch Ontario his new home, where he built three uniquely beautiful houses. Over the next 30 years he built and ran his cabinetmaking business, Woodmaster. To say he was a cabinetmaker is to undersell his abilities, he was an artist and wood was his medium.
Alan did not know how to sit still, busying himself gathering friends and family around backyard bonfires, effortlessly excelling at golf, lovingly tending to his garden, happily working the land on his tractor, and chopping and piling firewood. A talented musician, Alan played bass in a Swiss folk band for many years. Anyone lucky enough to share in these moments with him will forever remember his smile and twinkle in his eyes as he did what he loved most.
Despite all of the things he did and places he saw, it was hiking the Swiss Alps that forever remained Alan’s happy place.

Resting at Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St, Guelph, cremation has taken place. There will be a celebration of life at a later date with Swiss music, lots of laughter, and a bonfire. Donations to Hospice Wellington would be greatly appreciated and can be made in person at the funeral home or on his memorial page.
