Alan Dean Kjemhus
January 11, 1960-February 08, 2021
It is with heavy hearts the Kjemhus family announces the passing of Alan Dean Kjemhus. On February 8th 2021, Alan passed away peacefully at the Peace River Community Health Centre.
Alan was born in Beaverlodge, Alberta, and was raised on a family farm in rural Valhalla, AB. Son to Ole and Bernice Kjemhus and sibling to, Glenn, Les, Laureen and Rob.
Growing up Al worked hard on the farm alongside his family, graduating from Beaverlodge High School in 1978. Shortly after In 1979 Alan started dating the love of his life Judy Keeping, and married June 6 1981. Together the two had three boys; Tyler, Kyle and Cody.
Alan and Judy led an exciting life moving to Tumbler Ridge, BC in 1983; where they made countless lifetime friends and had their first son, Tyler James. Then onto Fairview, AB in 1986 where Al bought the Esso Bulk Station, where they added two more boys to their family, Kyle Jordan and Cody Nelson. There Al became an active member of the community, coaching the Fairview Kings and his son’s minor hockey teams. Again, many more lifelong friends, quadding, river boating and camping trips. Onward to Peace River, AB in 1995 Al managed DFI and in later years, joined Judy operating their A&W restaurants one in Peace River and in 2013 opened A & W in Grimshaw. Peace River had become home for Al and his family, enjoying their friends, the valley and the river.
Alan was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend who would have truly given the shirt off his back for anyone in need; no one had a bigger heart or had more fun. Alan loved life and enjoyed nothing more than travelling and cruises with his wife, he would often plan their next trip while they were on a trip . Al’s grandchildren meant the world to him. It is clear that, everything he ever did was for his family and friends.
Alan is survived by his wife of 39 years Judy their sons Tyler, Kyle (Britney) and Cody, grandchildren Reese, Rhett and Amora and his siblings Glenn (Eldine), Les (Lorraine), Laureen Dane and Robert (Brenda), mother in-law Joan Keeping (Grandma Dynamite) many aunts, uncles, cousin’s, nieces, nephews and countless close family friends.
