A.’s Obituary
HINES, Anna “Lorraine” (Fritz) age 92, of Kingston, N.S. passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on Friday, October 15th, 2021 following her final battle with cancer. Born November 7th, 1928 in Port George, NS. she was the eldest child of Elma (MacKenzie) and Leigh Fritz. Lorraine was previously deceased by her daughter, Cheryl “Lynn” Hines; husband, Maynard Hines; brother, Glendon Fritz; brother in-law Jim Hines; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Brown, Annie Pierce, Olive Young, and their respective spouses; as well as her parents Elma and Leigh Fritz. Lorraine is survived by her daughter, Janice and son-in-law, Paul McNeil of Kingston, NS; her beloved grandchildren, Rebecca McNeil, Kingston; Gregory McNeil (Jolene), Calgary, Alta; Courtney McNeil, Wilmot, NS; as well as her precious great-grandchildren, Jake, Isla, Dawson, and Lincoln. She also leaves behind sisters-in-law, Sherilyn Fritz, Kingston, Rose Hines, Middleton, NS, as well as many nieces, nephews, and their families. Lorraine was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Known to be a kind-hearted woman who loved to be surrounded by those she loved, especially her great-grandchildren. Lorraine was never one to sit still and had many adventures in her lifetime. Life did hand her a number of challenges but she never let those get the better of her or slow her down. Lorraine lived every day fully and touched the lives of all those she met. She loved attending events in the area with her friends, travelling with family or entertaining for cards in her own home. Lorraine was a long-time active member in her community of Kingston. She was a founding member and the first president of the Kingston Lionettes Club, a recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellow Award, for her dedication to humanitarian services with Lions Clubs International, and was actively involved within the Kingston Baptist Church, as well as volunteering in many capacities throughout her years. She always made time for family and was supportive of her girls, and later her grandchildren, in any and all of their interests growing up. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the Palliative Care team, especially Janet Welton for the comforting support during her last few weeks. Special thanks to both Dr. Kevin McGuire and Dr. Paul McGuire for their years of medical care. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Middleton Family Funeral Home. A visitation will be held 6-8 pm on Friday, November 5, 2021 in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street (902) 825-3448.
