On Saturday December 26, 2020 Mildred Pearl Young passed away at her home atRiverbend Place Long Term Care Home, Cambridge in her 99th year. She was a loving Mother to Robert Young (Marilyn), Sharon Peori (Tony), Faye Wiens (Rick Kinzel), Ronald Young (Deborah) and Richard Young (Lisa). Mildred was blessed with 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 3 great, great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her loving husband Donald Birkett Young on March 30, 2003 and her son in law David Wiens on August 14, 2008.
Born on July 10,1922 in Blenheim Township, Ontario to Stuart and Velma (Mellick) Hamilton where she spent her early years on the family farm with her sisters Doris Utz (d. November 1, 2016) of Font Hill, Marjorie Dyment of Brantford and Anna Dance of Paris.
Mildred married Donald Young on June 20, 1942. Their life together after WWII, started in Paris, to Brantford, to Cambridge until Don’s retirement taking them back to outside of Paris.Known for her strength as well as her perseverance, Mildred was a loving and strong supportive wife of more than 60 years, especially in the last 4 years of Don’s life.
Mildred was a woman of faith and prayer. Her place of worship in the latter years was Faith Evangelical Missionary Church in Kitchener. Thank you to her pastors who loved and nurtured her. She departed knowing that she was going to Glory with a heart filled with peace and love. What a great example to those she left behind. She will be missed but her legacy lives on.
The family would like to thank the staff and friends at Marian Retirement Residence and Riverbend Place Long Term Care Home for the love and care that was shown to Mildred in the final season of her life.
As per Mildred’s wishes, arrangements have been made. A private family service will take place at a later date. Donations to Lisaard House, 990 Speedsville Rd., Cambridge Ontario may be made as expressions of sympathy.
