Obituary for
Wilma Anne Charlebois (Gibson)
CHARLEBOIS, Wilma Anne
1936-2020
Wilma Anne (Gibson) Charlebois passed away on Monday, March 30, 2020 of complications related to pulmonary fibrosis. Beloved and long-suffering wife of James (Jim) Charlebois, proud mother of Brian and Susan (Rick Murat) and very proud Noni to Jocelyn (Tyler Klinck) and Claire (Scott Seguin).
Wilma grew up in the Wakefield area and after the early death of her father Carl Gibson, moved with her mother Hazel (Stearns) several times, including a period of time at Sissinghurst Castle in England, before settling in Ottawa where she met Jim in 1956. They recently celebrated their 63rd anniversary in March 2020. Newly married, Jim and Wilma moved to Stittsville where they formed life-long friends and many happy memories. Wilma returned to work as the original Office Administrator at Goulbourn Public (Middle) School in 1967 and thoroughly enjoyed her role in the school’s community until her retirement in 1992. Wilma had a sense of humour and it was the trait she enjoyed most in her husband, friends and coworkers. She loved nothing more than time at the cottage with her “Peeps”.
Wilma is also survived by her sister-in-law Elizabeth Neil and by several nieces and nephews.
Due to public health concerns, a remembrance of Wilma’s life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Lanark Animal Welfare Society (LAWS).
