It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of William Jongerius, August 8th, 2020.
Bill was a very strong, yet quiet man who loved his family. After living and working in Calgary for more than 30 years, Bill was drawn to the natural beauty of the Kootenays, where he chose to live his retirement, in 2003. Bill was born in Utrecht, Holland then moved to Canada as a very young boy. He was 71 years old when he passed.
Bill is survived by his wife, Sharon; daughter, Lori Ellis (Drayton Halverson) of Salmo; stepson, Michael Schuck (Lynsey) of Calgary. He is survived by his sisters, Marianne Hoare (Michael), Johanna Hawke, his sister-in-law Carol as well as nieces and nephews, Jason Hoare (Andrea), Ken Hoare (Heather), Keith Goulet, Amy Gowan (Neil), Holly Jongerius as well as several great nieces and nephews, all residing in Ontario. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Donna Farnum of Trail and all of her family.
Bill was a beloved grandfather to Wade Moravec of Drumheller, AB; Cheyanne Swindall (Ben) of Delhi, Ont.; Braelynn Coppens of Salmo, Malakai Halverson of Salmo; Rachel Schuck of Edmonton; Zach and Cody Schuck of Calgary; and a great-grandfather to Logan Swindall.
Bill was predeceased by his father, Jacobus, in 1972; his nephew, Michael, in 2000; his mother, Mary, in 2011; his brother, John, in 2017; and his brother-in-law, Peter, in 2020.
Our family would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to Dr. Dixon-Warren, as well as the many teams of medical professionals and EMTs which helped Bill through some extremely challenging times.
We request that no flowers be sent.

My deepest condolences to you upon the passing of Bill.
I worked with Bill at Shell and have good memories of him. He was very smart, always willing to help, and a great computer games player.
When I think of Bill I think of the early computer venture games that required lots of visual imagination. If you saw the game sketches Bill would make you know what I mean. He introduced me to the games cave and mansion, and the silent 700 portable terminal thermal printer we played these games on. Great times!
Rest in peace Bill
