Kolkman, Wilhelmina (Mies)
Beloved wife of Hubert (Bert) Kolkman of Mitchell; Mies passed away peacefully at Seaforth Community Hospital on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 in her 93rd year. Born in the Netherlands, Mies (nee Poppe) came to Canada in 1953 and married Bert at North Bay, Ontario in 1953. They farmed in Logan from 1959-1992, where they retired. They moved to The Ritz Manor in 2019. She was a life long member of the CWL and very dedicated to her family.
Beloved mother of daughters Teresa and husband John Punch of Victoria, Alma and husband Harvey Hollingshead of Harrow, Colleen and husband Paul Mathieson of Stratford; sons Gerald and wife Veronica, Joe and wife Theresia, and John and wife Wilma, all of Logan. Loving grandmother of 16 grandchildren: Matthew, Thomas, Andrea, Nicholas, Benjamin, Michael, David, Nathan, Maria, Michelle, Steven, Janice, and Daniel Kolkman, Amanda Punch, and Andrew and Chris Hollingshead; as well as four great grandchildren. Her family meant everything to her! Survived by her sister-in-law Ann Poppe of Stratford and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Gerard and Ann Kolkman of Mitchell as well as many nieces and nephews. Survived in Holland by three brothers and two sisters.
Predeceased by parents Henry and Hendrika Poppe, three sisters and six brothers and in-laws. Predeceased in Canada by Herman and Willy Poppe, Jean and Henry Freriks and sister-in-law Willemien Poppe (van Bakel).
Visitation at the Lockhart Funeral Home, 109 Montreal Street, Mitchell on Sunday, January 26, 2020 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm. with Parish Prayers at 1:45 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, Kinkora on Monday, January 27, 2020 at 11 am. Spring interment at St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery, Mitchell.
