It is with a heavy heart I announce the passing of my best friend, confidant and wife Wendy «Wic» Viola Clare of Lambton Shores at St. Joseph’s Hospice in Sarnia on July 7, 2020 at the age of 71 following a year-long battle against small cell carcinoma.
Wendy was loved and cherished by her husband Peter ‘Pete’ Clare, of almost 30 years, and will be dearly missed by her daughters, Tami Martell (Steve Carlton), Kelly Anne Martell, stepdaughters Michelle Clare Skelding (Lee Anne), Nicole Clare. Wendy has left a legacy in her Grandchildren, Alissa, Melanie, Justin, Noah, and Ava.
Wendy loved Nova Scotia and longed to move back there to be with her family. We will always be thankful for the special trip with family for Christmas 2019, sharing some of her happiest moments.
Wendy loved all living creatures and would spend hours watching and feeding her cats and dogs, in addition to the birds and other wildlife that would frequent our property, and Wendy would make sure none had to forage for a meal. Of course, nothing gave Wendy pride than her daughters and grandchildren. Nothing could make Wendy beam more with pride than seeing and enjoying their company.
Wendy’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you; thankfulness could never be expressed enough to Pauline Matheson, neighbour, caretaker, and friend, who cared for Wendy throughout her battle with cancer. Special thanks to all the nurses and doctors at the Grand Bend Community Health Centre, Bluewater Oncology and Chemotherapy Clinic, VON Nurse Danica Wilson, and Dr. Kim.
Family and friends continue to celebrate and remember the life so well lived by Wendy. A life full of loving, selflessness, devotion, and caring.
