Watson Jack John March 30 2020

Jack will be deeply mourned by his family as he was widowed for only 4 weeks prior by his beloved wife (of 67 years) Marjorie. Jack is survived by brother Stephen (Sheila); children Susan, Alan (Bonnie), and Carol (Terry Fuga); grandchildren Jackie Fuga (Stephen Reny), Nick Watson (Chelsey), Julie Watson, and Steven Lederer, plus three great-granddaughters Hayden & Davies Reny and Aubrey Watson. As well as Marjorie, Jack was predeceased by his parents Dorothy & Fred Watson and sister Barbara Dawson and beloved grandson David Fuga.
Jack was born in Leeds, England and was a proud Englishman. Jack grew up in a loving home filled with laughter and sports. Jack served England during WWII in the Royal Army Commandos seeing active duty in Southeast Asia. Jack met Marjorie after the war and they were married on June 7, 1952. In the 1959, Jack, Marjorie, Susan and Alan made the move to Canada in hopes of a stronger economic future. Carol was born in late 1960.
Jack had a long and devoted career with over 30 years without a sick day at William Huff Advertising where he was a graphic engraver and camera operator.
Jack will be remembered as a true renaissance man. He was creative, athletic, and handy. Jack could play sports, sing, dance, garden, build or fix anything, draw, paint, and play the ukulele. He loved to entertain. His warm and very funny personality made him a popular man. Jack & Marjorie were founding members of the St. George of England Society where Jack indulged his love of singing and entertaining (plus building sets). He performed with the Twilight Thyme Group at senior’s centres and provided hilarious entertainment including performing in pantomimes often forgetting his lines. He was also a member of Hawaiian Treasures performing band where he played ukulele and sang.
He will be remembered with love by his grandchildren with whom he loved to play, sometimes too rough. He was given the nick name Mad Dog by his coworkers at William Huff, playing street hockey at coffee and lunch breaks, and he took this same love of the game to the neighborhood streets with the kids and their friends. His wicked sense of humour added value to all family events.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the David Fuga Memorial Fund held at the Edmonton Community Foundation (www.ecfoundation.org) or the charity of your choice. A funeral will not be held at this time but a celebratory event will be planned for later.
