In Loving Memory of Viola Elenore Hemphill
1924 – 2020
Vie passed away at Kelowna General Hospital on January 12, 2020. She was born in Sainte-Anne-De-Kent, NB on April 11, 1924 and was raised as the second oldest of twelve children. Vie was a loving friend, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and Auntie, remembered by all as kind, sweet and nurturing.
Her passions were sewing, gardens, photography, music and some travel. Her kind, holistic and natural spirit was evident in her comfort, care and tending to the needs of others. She always enjoyed time with family & friends. Vie’s greatest gifts were her patience and light hearted spirit believing that laughter was key to everything. Her inner strength and determination gave strength to many others. A strength that spanned many years until a greater strength took her. She will live on in our hearts.
She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Douglas Wallace Hemphill and son Brian Hemphill. Survived by her children, Berle (Kirby) Sands, Wayne (Diane) Hemphill and John Hemphill, multiple grandchildren and two remaining siblings.
In lieu of a service a donation will be made to the Penticton Hospital Foundation. Donations can also be made in Vie’s memory to the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation www.bcchf.ca.
Condolences may be left for the family by visiting
Inurnment will take place at a later date where Vie will join her husband.

The Spirit is beyond destruction. No one can bring to an end the Spirit which is everlasting.
