Obituary of Vernon Leroy Murray
Vernon will be greatly loved and missed forever.
It is difficult to say goodbye to someone you love, but we, the family take peace knowing that Vernon has now begun the journey to his home on Gods celestial shore. To my dear uncle, as your body may leave this earth, we know your spirit and soul will remain with us forever. Till we meet again; we love you!
Vernon was the most laid back, go with the flow type of man; to know him was to love him. He was always up for a good joke. He only asked for the simple pleasures in life. An avid reader, he would settle quietly with a good book and with a smile on his face be engrossed for hours. He also loved T.V. sports, even repeats. Vernon enjoyed being with family. At the frequent family gatherings where food was abundant, he was in his glory. He enjoyed attending bingo with family, a habit inherited from his mother. Vernon like all the Murray clan, and was addicted to Lay’s Classic Potatoe Chips.
Vernon’s work career was varied and took him to many areas within Canada. The most recent would have been Walmart for many years, then the past two years Vernon dedicated himself to the Bee Clean team at the Halifax Airport which he enjoyed very much. All employers knew he worked with dedication.
Survived by his loving wife, Susan Murray (Mills); daughter, Stephanie Ingram (Alex); sister, Judy Murray-Veinot (Arthur); brothers, Larry Murray (Darlene), Philip Murray (Liz); grandson, Gunner; sister-in-law, Sharon Mahar (Kevin); close nieces, Sherry Rose (Annie), Tara Vickery (Darby); many other great-nieces and nephews, and his fur babies, Gizmo and Midnight.
He was predeceased by oldest brother, Lloyd Murray; his parents, James and Edna Murray.
The family would like to thank Dartmouth General Hospital for the exceptional care and professionalism shown to the family throughout their ordeal. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of 4 East for the care and compassion shown to Vernon during this time. A special thank you to the Bee Clean team at the airport, special mention goes out to Sally for all of the support given to Vernon and Susan.
Due to Covid-19 a Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Cremation has taken place and Vernon is home with his wife Susan. In memory of Vernon, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation or any charity of your choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4P 1B9 (902-679-2822).
