Timothy (Tim) Michael Palanuik, 58, of Virden, MB passed away suddenly on November 11, 2020 in Virden. Tim was born in Regina, SK to Geraldine and Mike Palanuik on February 13, 1962.
Tim was a precocious child, always wondering, always curious. Being the fifth child, his mother had her hands full, besides working for a nursing home. Tim always loved his mother and spoke fondly of her.
He went to Balfour Collegiate in Regina.
In the summertime, he would work on the farm with his uncles. He left home at the age of 18, and on his tape deck, heading off on the highway was ACDC’s song, “Highway to Hell”. He followed his favorite cousin, Scott, to Calgary. He had various careers in his working life and excelled in each one. He worked at the Calgary airport for 15 years and experienced some harrowing times. He also tried out as an actor in L.A., and was in a few movies, even co-starring with Kevin Costner.
He then started working for the oil industry and slowly made his way back to Regina. It was during this time, just over 5 years ago, that he met Hannah. It did not take long for them to become best friends, and over the years, Virden became home for him.
He enjoyed music, sports, road trips, and family. Tim was a kind and thoughtful person who made each person’s life better. He was always ready for a chuckle. His main concern was always for Hannah’s well-being, and he wanted to make sure she would always be looked after.
Tim will be very sadly missed. He is survived by his partner, Hannah Penner of Virden, MB. Also, by his sisters, Zelma, Sheila, and Michelle, brothers, Rod and Guy. He has numerous relatives as well. He is preceded in death by his parents Geraldine and Mike.
A private service will be held at G.R. Carscadden Funeral Chapels – Virden on Friday, November 20, 2020. This service will be recorded then uploaded to a link at the top of this obituary page. Interment will be at Kola Evangelical Mennonite Church Cemetery.
