We the family regret to announce the passing of the late Samuel (Sam) David Hodder, age 59, on Wednesday December 9th, 2020, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Surround by his loving wife and two daughters
Born in Sydney NS, he was the son of the late Kenneth and Anne (Mercer) Hodder. He was a member of Holy family parish, Sydney Mines.
Sam worked for Vickers Custom Homes & Renovations LTD, and GDI services (Canada) for several years. He also worked for Eykings Farm for several years. Sam was a very kind & loving person, who adored his wife and his two beautiful daughters, they were his whole world. He would help anyone in need, no matter how big or small the task.
He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years Noelle Hodder, his two daughters Sarah Hodder (Dayton) and Julia Hodder. Sam is also survived by his brothers Edward Hodder NFLD, Norm (Paula) Hodder Halifax, Stanley Hodder (Tracy Gibson) Kentville, Doulas (Susan) Hodder Alberta, and Jim (Laura) Hodder NFLD. His sisters Louise (Albert) Harvey NFLD, and Doreen Skinner (Frank) NFLD. Sam is also survived by his father- in -law, Lavato Harrietha, his sisters-in- law, Theresa Harrietha, Sirena (Alex) Jessome, and his brother-in- law John Harrietha (Tracy). Also, his nephew that was like a brother to him Jason (Elizabeth) Hodder. Sam will be greatly missed by his many nieces and nephews, and a number of friends that were like family to Sam, Marlon (Corrisa) Waite, Wayne (Tammy) Richards, and Neil Kidd.
Besides his parents Sam was predeceased by brothers and sister, Gerald and John Hodder, Joan Hodder. Mother- in- law, Marie (Jobe) Harrietha, and brother- in- law Lavatino Harrietha, also nephew Jeffery Harrietha and good friend Keltie “Junior” Farrell.
We the family would like to send a heart felt thank you to the staff of the C.C.U. unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, especially Dr. McFarlane, and his nurses Kate and Crystal for all they did. Also, a special to the boys, Carl Johnstone, Kyle Saskaulasus, Michael Long, and Darron Vickers.
There will be no visitation. A Funeral Mass to celebrate Sam’s life will be held Tuesday December 15, 2020 at 11 am in Holy Family Parish, Sydney Mines, with Fr. Fabian Ihunegbo officiating. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com
