Obituary
With heavy hearts we are sad to announce Ruby Gibbins passed away peacefully on October, 16th, 2020, at the age of 59 years old after a short yet courageous battle with cancer.
Her Sense of humour, kind heart, and sincerity brought light to all that knew her. She was born in Moose Jaw Saskatchewan, but grew up and lived her life in Calgary. She graduated from Forest Lawn High School in 1979, and continued on to work a long fulfilling career in the Oil and Gas industry. This afforded her the opportunity to make many lifetime friendships that she valued and cherished dearly.
Her true passion in life was dedicated to raising and teaching her children. The life lessons she passed forward will be her legacy; ensuring her grandchildren will be raised with the same integrity and strong values.
She will be greatly missed by her mother, Gunda Gibbins; brother, Gary Gibbins; sister, Sylke Hancock; aunt, Marga Kaufman; children, Todd Thurlow (Melissa Wright), Melissa Erle (Christopher Erle), and Megan Thurlow (Matthew Rypien); grandchildren, Lucy Wright, Autumn Thurlow, Ethan Thurlow, and Weston Erle; as well as many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, Rudi Gibbins and brother, Christian Gibbins.
She will be greatly missed, and leaves a hole in many hearts.
A Funeral Service will be held for Ruby at Country Hills Crematorium (11995 – 16 Street NE, Calgary) on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at 2:00 pm.
Due to Covid19 we will also be offering a virtual service via Zoom for those that wish to avoid larger gatherings. Please email requestzoomattendance@gmail.com indicating your preference to attend in person or via Zoom. For those who want to attend virtually the family will send you the link and instructions. Please RSVP by Wednesday, October 21 at 9:00am. Please be advised that the name you enter the zoom call with will be displayed for other guests as well as entered into the guest book.
