Ronald Mader 2020

We, the family of Ronald Mader, regret to announce his passing on Thursday, January 30, 2020, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born September 17, 1948, in Sydney, he was the son of the late Leroy and Florence (Budden) Mader.
In Ronnie’s early years, he worked for McKnight’s Music Store and Woolco. For the last 30 years, he worked as a taxi driver with Briands, City Wide and most recently, Dynasty Cabs. Ronnie also played guitar for many years and played in various bands over the years. A die-hard fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs, he enjoyed sitting down to watch them play. But, Ronnie’s most happy times were getting together with his daughter playing guitar and singing Calendar Girl, as well as reminiscing about the old band days.
He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Mader-Floyd, Sydney; grandchildren, Clayton Floyd, Jordan Butler and Kyle Fitzgerald (Stephanie Grant); great-grandchildren, Abigail Hayes-Floyd, Kyson, Amara and Aurora Fitzgerald; sisters, Carol (Levio) Nicolletti, Dominion, Linda Mader, Calgary and Gail (Rob) Thompson, Halifax; brother, Jerry, Edmonton and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Ronald was predeceased by his son, Steven Forest; twin brother, Kenny Mader; sister-in-law, Janice Mader; and great-grandson, Travis Hayes.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Friday, February 7 from 4-7 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Saturday, February 8 at 2 p.m., with Rev. Dana Feltmate officiating. Interment in Hardwood Hill Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the SPCA Cape Breton Branch, the IWK or a charity of your choice.
