It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert “Bob” Gordon Klassen on November 11, 2020 at the Sturgeon Hospital, at the age of 94 years.
Robert was born in Herbert, Saskatchewan and later moved west with his family to Mission, British Columbia. Robert was interested in trains, and at the age of ten began volunteering his time with Canadian Pacific Railway. At age seventeen, he was officially hired on with CPR. Over the next forty-six years, he had a distinguished career with the railway as an Auditor, and resided in Trail, New Westminster, Edmonton, Calgary, and Saskatoon, as well as travelling across Canada. He was commended for his loyal and valuable service and retired as Rail Yard Superintendent in 1989, in Saskatoon.
Together with his wife Hilda, they enjoyed golfing, curling, camping with family, and many social functions. Robert particularly enjoyed fishing with his children. Robert and Hilda were inseparable and an undeniable strength to each other. Their commitment and devotion for each other were absolute.
Robert leaves to mourn his sons: Terry, Richard (Anne), Wayne (Mary), Barry (Claudia); nine grandchildren: Lisa (Dan), Angela (Richard), Cindy (Jim), Renee, Matthew (Anne), Cory (Patti), Tricia (Mike), Candice (Jason), Curtis; and twelve great-grandchildren.
Robert was predeceased by his beloved wife, Hilda (Pam); daughter, Virginia; parents, Peter and Anna; sisters: Dorothy, Irene, and Margaret; and brothers, Theodore and James.
At Roberts request, no service will be held.
Memorial Donations may be made in Roberts memory to the Edmonton Humane Society.
The family would like to thank the staff at Touchmark at Wedgewood for their care of dad.
