Obituary
ELDER –Robert David, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at the age of 59.He is survived by his loving wife Leslie Elder; his sisters Joanne Smith; Judy Iwacha (Paul); and nieces, Kim Smith (Sean), Heather Smith and Paige Iwacha. He was predeceased by his father and mother, John and Beverly Elder. Born in Claresholm, Alberta on February 17, 1961, the family moved to the community of Westgate in Calgary where he went to school and excelled at his favourite pastimes, hockey and baseball. David attended the University of Calgary (Bachelor of Commerce) and went on to a career in Safety and Risk Management; some of his happiest years at Canadian Airlines International and TransCanada Pipelines. He met the love of his life, Leslie and they married in September 1987.Dave and Leslie fulfilled their dream of living on an acreage in the mid-ninety’s and spent many wonderful years in the High River and Millarville areas. He was an avid golfer and recently returned to the golf course in semi-retirement as a greens keeper. David had a passion for life and people and was a devoted friend to many. He will also be remembered for his love of animals and, in particular, for those of his rescued “family”. In lieu of flowers, donations will gratefully be received in David’s honour at Heaven Can Wait Animal Rescue (Box 6131, Stn. Main, High River, AB, T1V 1P7); 403-601-2520; http//www.heavencanwait.ca. A Celebration of Life service will be planned for July 2021.
