Death notice
WEBER, Rev. James “Jim” Joseph went home December 22, 2020 at age 83 after a long, painful battle with cancer and other related physical challenges. Today, he is where there is no more pain! He is missed already by his loving family. Wife Muriel-Jane “M.J” (nee Lemon), sons Joe and Jamie, daughter- in-law Paige, grandsons Sandon (Haley), Jordan and Tim, great grandchildren Grayson and Everett, also sister Lyn Henwood and the many nieces, nephews and cousins. Jim was predeceased by his parents Mary (nee Largue Innes) and Joe Weber and sister Sue Duffy.
Jim was raised in Aldershot/Burlington, Ontario. He and M.J sat together every day on Norton’s Waterdown and District High School. Now they are just seven months short of celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. Jim was a proud Scot, a reservist wih the Argyll and Southerland Highlanders. A member of Legion 80 in Midland.
Jim was ordained into the Gospel Ministry under the Associated Gospel Churches of Canada at Park Avenue Church, now Compass Point, Burlington. Jim and M.J ministered in Ontario, Miami, Florida and Puerto Rico. Jim taught Theology in English and Spanish in a small Baptist College near San Juan. They had a small English congregation on the weekend in Ceiba.
Jim served as a Protection Agent with the Hamilton and Wentworth Children’s Aid Society. Later, he was Executive Director of Big Brothers in Thunder Bay and Oshawa, then promoted to the head office in Burlington for public relations. He travelled coast to coast developing Big Brothers’ Bowl for Millions, now Bowl for Kids Sake with Big Brothers and Big Sisters. Jim’s hobby was stamp collecting.
Our (Jim & M.J’s) sojourn in Oshawa was such a happy one. We attended Ritson Road Alliance Church. Jim enjoyed his time at Big Brothers and Kiwanis, Durham A.M. while I was so fulfilled teaching special education at Central Park Senior Public and King Street schools with Reg Gutsole as Principal. I also enjoyed teaching art classes and showing my work at the McLaughlin Public Gallery with the local art group.
We are so thankful for God’s amazing grace which has been delivered by so many friends, in church and the community, doctors and nurses at GBGH, RVH, Soldiers’ Memorial and especially Tomkins House-Hospice Huronia in his final days.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Donations in Jim’s memory could be sent to Calvary Baptist Church, Compass Point, Legion 80, Big Brothers, Big Sisters, hospitals, hospice, Gideon Bibles or charity of your choice.
Messages of condolence will be received at leclaircremationcentre.ca or M.J’s email address jjmj2002@yahoo.ca
