It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Raymond (Ray) Belanger 71 years old, born November 6th 1948. Ray passed away peacefully on October 12th 2020 at Pinantan Lake BC. Ray had lived in Ashcroft BC since 2019, but prior to this, was a long-term resident of Courtenay BC.
Ray joined the Canadian Military in 1967 and was posted to CFB Greenwood NS. Throughout his career, Ray was posted to Lahr, Germany, CFB Bagotville QC, CFB Calgary AB and finally, in 1989 to CFB Comox. Ray retired from the Military as a Master Warrant Officer in 1994 and remained living in Courtney Comox.
Ray was pre-deceased by his son Steven John Belanger of Nova Scotia and survived by his father, Roger Belanger of Quebec and many friends. Ray loved traditional archery, woodworking, fishing, animals and fine food and drink.
At Ray’s request, a funeral or service was not held. A memorial is planned for Spring 2021 in Courtney Comox. Anyone wishing to be informed of the date/time/place once arranged, please e-mail Katie Britton at misskatpaw@me.com
