BROSSART, Pius
Celebrate the life of Pius Brossart, a man who was noted for his jovial personality, teasing, mischievous eyes and grin, infectious smile and generous hugs, who left us peacefully May 26, 2020 just shy of his 89th birthday. Dad leaves us with a wealth of memories and everlasting love. His greatest treasures in life were not material things or status, but love, family, faith and friends woven through 62 years shared with Beatrice (Mom), the love of his life.
Dad was born on Uncle Tony Brossart’s farm in Allan, SK, the eldest of 5 children. He grew up on his grandfather’s homestead and farmed it until his son Terry, who is now the 4th generation, took over. Dad was proud of the Century Farm Award, and his passion for farming continued until his passing. He was always checking to what was new and what was going on. Restoring antique tractors was one of Dad’s passions, working in the shop until late at night. The grandchildren remember being at the farm, cruising around on one of his antique tractors, or maybe a newer one.
He enjoyed countless ‘Happy Hours’ with anyone who cared to join him, along with many card games, Horseshoe and Bean Bag Tournaments, bowling, curling, and camping. Dancing the night away with Mom was a particularly favourite past-time. Right up to the end, Dad and Mom would watch Old Time Music on Chromecast, with Dad tapping to the music. Great friendships were developed when they belonged to the Allan Senior Club, Allan Birthday Group, Good Sam Club and when they moved into Providence, their new home in Saskatoon. They liked to travel near and far including winter holidays in Yuma and Osoyoos, where more were formed.
Dad will be forever remembered and loved by his wife Beatrice, and his beloved children and grandchildren: Valerie (Jim) Purcell, Riana, Victoria; Lynette (Fidel Lopez) Brossart, stepdaughter Jessica; Terry (Shari) Brossart, Kyla, Lyndon; Glenda (Calvin) Shipton, Sarah, Aden; Marcel (Sherri Behiel) Brossart, Dawson, Connor and stepsons Matthew, Noah.
Siblings Doreen (Reynold) Zeiler, Eleanor (Stan) Olszewski, Marie (Ray) Hagel; siblings-in-law Natalie Brossart, Phyllis Masse, Adrien (Fay) Masse, Carole Masse (Jim Canaday) and Gerard (Jennifer Purves) Masse, along with many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Ida Brossart and in-laws Auguste and Jeanne Masse; infant daughter Marie; brother Edward Brossart and infant sister; brothers-in-law Andrew Masse and Leo Masse.
Dad was a Lifetime Member of Knights of Columbus. As the path of life became challenging, Dad followed his heart and prepared for his final destination with faith and courage. His endless true love for Mom was demonstrated by his constant affection for her and his appreciation for all she did for him.
A celebration of Dad’s life will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at 10:30 am at Acadia McKague’s Funeral Centre by invitation only. For those not attending, the family has provided the following YouTube link to watch the service: youtu.be/Ae4H57mpruQ. Social distancing protocols will be followed. Please bring your own masks. A Private Family Interment will take place at the St. Aloysius Cemetery in Allan, SK.
With gratitude in our hearts and a lifetime of love and memories, Dad was blessed to have many friends and acquaintances. He would want to give a special thank you to all his dear friends, Dr. Clint MacDonald, and most of all to his caregivers, Rose and Ma Christy. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to St. Aloysius Cemetery, Box 220, Allan, SK S0K 0C0 or STARS Air Ambulance.
