Obituary
Leaving us with precious memories, Norveline Jane Hopey passed away peacefully at home on August 3, 2020. Born in St. Martins on January 25, 1928 to Norman and Sarah McLeod, where she graduated from St. Martins School, then moved to Fredericton to attend Normal School, then back to Saint John where she received a BT at UNBSJ. She taught for 31 years before retiring back to her beloved St. Martins in 1986. Throughout her life, she was very active in her church and community.
Norveline will be greatly missed by her daughter and son-in-law Kim and Alan Robinson, her grandsons and their wives Scott and Rose Robinson, Derek and Jacqueline Robinson, her granddaughter and husband Charlotte and Tristen Stevenson, and her cherished great-grandchildren Victoria, Audrey, Alexander, and Henry Robinson who affectionately knew her as GG. Norveline also leaves behind her sister Penny Berry, many special nieces and nephews, and her life long friend Thelma Hatt.
Norveline was meticulously cared for by Dr. Le and family; Holly Bennett, Sheila Golding, and Laverne Hopey, who made it possible for her to stay in her own home. Their loving care was more appreciated than words can ever express. Waiting in heaven to greet her are her parents, her husband Percy, her son Rodney, her sisters Elmira, Marguerite, Olive, and Norma, and her brothers Raymond, Harley, and Lawrence.
A graveside service will be led by our friend and minister, Rev. Wade Bradford at the St. Martins Community Cemetery on Thursday, August 6th at 11:00. Due to limited space at the cemetery, everyone is cordially invited to an outdoor reception to honour her life at 210 Main Street in St. Martins at 12:00 p.m.
Special thanks to everyone who prayed, visited, called, and sent food; you touched us all.
When the roll is called up yonder, she’ll be there.
