Obituary of Monique Marie Rita Rivard
RIVARD, Monique
October 24, 1924 – December 30, 2019 (95 years)
Monique Rivard was born on October 24, 1924 at the home farm of Toussaint and Laura Sylvestre (Dauphinais) in St. Joachim, Ontario. Middle sibling to late Adelard (late Annette) Sylvestre, late Beatrice (late Villemaire)(late Sam Goyeau) Papineau, late Isidore (Eleanor) Sylvestre, Marie Antoinette (Imrich) Stolarik. Sister in law of the late Leah (late Claude) Lalonde, late Marguerite (late Edgar) Quenneville, late Wilfred (Angeline) Rivard, Fr. Louis Rivard, and the late Alex (late Mary) Rivard. In 1948 she married Felix (2014) and moved to Coatsworth, Ontario. There they raised Agnes (Paul) Marchand, Bernard (Theresa), Pierre (Vicki) and Anita (Mark) Tourangeau. Monique took pride in her gardening, canning and feeding her family. She loved ice-cream, woodworking, duct tape, cardboard boxes and string, using these talents to make projects for her family and friends. She loved to crochet afghans for all of her 10 grandchildren, Jeffrey, Simon, Michelle, Nicole, Rene, Jonathan, Adrian, Laura, Sarah and Kristoffer. More afghans were to follow for her 18 great grandchildren. She always had a trick up her sleeve and enjoyed being the joker of the party. Monique played a mean game of cards and loved to win. She also tried to be a pro golfer but it got the better of her. She passed her last few years doing puzzles to keep her mind sharp and busy. She always had an infectious smile and taught us all to love and laugh. God was her faith and she entrusted him to live life to the fullest each day. Visitation at Reaume Funeral Home Inc., 6 Canal St. W., Tilbury on Friday January 3, 2020 from 3-5 and 7-9 pm. Parish prayers at 8:00 pm. Funeral Mass on Saturday January 4, 2020 at St. Francis Xavier Church at 11:00 am. Please note there will be no visitation prior to Mass. Interment to follow at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery. We would like to thank the workers of Seasons Belle River who loved and cared for her. In lieu of flowers, donations to Chatham-Kent Hospice appreciated.
