Mike Levine
It is with heavy hearts and tremendous sadness that we announce the passing of Mike Levine on Saturday, November 28, 2020, in his one hundred and fourth year. Beloved husband and best friend of the late Ida (Hoffman) Levine, with whom he shared a special marriage of sixty-nine years. Loving and cherished father and father-in-law of Shelly and Donna Levine, Fay and Martin Greenberg, and Bella and Irving Fox. Proud and adoring Zaidie of Ilana Levine, Carly Levine, Jeremy Fox, Ryan and Shirley Fox, and Andrew Fox. Treasured great Zaidie “Quack-Quack” of Sydnie Levine-Glazer and Madison Levine-Slepp, with whom he shared a special relationship. Predeceased by his parents, Bella and Lazar Levine, siblings and spouses, Annie and Harry Rubinger, Louis and Lillian Levine, Alice and Sydney Veinish and Charles Berger, Miriam and Sydney Wexler, Jennie and Samuel Lesser, and Betty and Harry Goldberg. Son-in-law of the late Saydie and the late Sam Hoffman, brother-in-law of the late Minnie and the late Jerry Kirshenblatt and the late Katie Hoffman. Very special cousin and best friend of the late Louis Levine, whom he saved from military service by becoming partners in the cattle business in Huntingdon, Quebec. Mike will be lovingly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends. He especially enjoyed spending time in Vermont and fishing on Lake Champlain. After his retirement he learned to play bridge and did crossword puzzles daily. Mike devoted his life to caring for his wife, family and community. He was the past President of his bowling league, the Cote St. Luc Men’s Club, and was a member of the 60 Plus group and Golden Age Association. He received many awards for volunteerism. A true “mench” and friend to all. His legacy will remain and his family is truly blessed to have had Mike in their lives for so many years. The family would like to thank the extraordinary and devoted health care workers who took such great care of Mike at Jewish Eldercare. A very special thanks goes to Dr. Mark Karanofsky for his devotion and compassion. Due to the pandemic, a private graveside service will take place. The family wishes to observe Shiva in private.
