Our dearest Reenie, our boisterous Beenie-Bopper,
In stillness and tranquility at just 53 years old you decided it was time for the next step and imbued with a sense of calm and serenity you drew your final breaths on Sept 6, 2020. You were born on December 13, 1966 and life was challenging for you, yet you confronted it with a strength and courage few possess. You survived and surpassed the insurmountable and you and your life is this family’s greatest teacher. You loved music, singing, dancing and laughing! There was no match for your deep bellied joviality. So happy with so little, to be in the moment and grasp wholeheartedly that which brought you joy. The face of a family member, an unexpected visit, your favorite meal, meaningful music, hearing that you were loved, the sun on your face, reminiscing fond childhood memories, were all reasons for you to be grateful. Something you held dear to your heart were your memories of all your nieces and nephews, their births, how you babysat them and the innumerable shenanigans. Being an aunt was very important to you and you loved them all. For Bill and Nichole, with whom you shared many years of your home life, your passing is especially sorrowful. They held vigil at your bedside in your final days. You taught us that we have much to learn Reenie. Direct and authentic, pure and powerful with humor and warmth, a well-hidden vulnerability and a feisty temperament. You never wanted nor asked for much, just to be loved and to know you mattered and belonged- to not feel like an outsider, different or to be shunned.
You now join our mom (Kathleen Dunne- 2014) , dad ( Harry Dunne- 1975 ), brother ( Henry Dunne- 2014) and niece (Tara Dunne- 2016) who have gone before you. You were surrounded by family and heard their stories, songs, laughter and hopefully felt their love. We, your remaining brothers and sisters; Wayne, Tony, Kitty, Trish, Carol, Tim and Linda along with our families and friends will never forget you Reenie. You have left a special impact on many healthcare professionals that grew to know and love you over the years. Reenie, you will be celebrated, treasured and loved eternally. We fell short of giving you all that you deserved in your living years. May death bring you not only peace but also freedom, a gentle release from the mind’s restless state and from the bodily confines of physical discomfort and suffering.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Waterford Hospital who for many years fulfilled a very important function for our sister. She spoke of you often and fondly.
Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road on Thursday, September 10, 2020 from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, September 11, 2020 at 10 a.m. at Mary Queen of the World Church. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association.
