Mary Lee Smith
1948-2020
It is with broken hearts that the family announce the passing
of Mary Lee Smith on December 18, 2020. Born on September 4, 1948, she
was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Mary (Cameron)
Moore.
Mary Lee graduated from Stanley High School in 1967, after
which she attended NB Teacher’s College, graduating in 1969.
Her first teaching position was in Grand Bay, after which she supplied
throughout the Fredericton and Oromocto areas. She loved to travel,
but also enjoyed her time at home. Her rice pudding was
renowned among her family.
She will be deeply missed by her loving husband Michael
Atkinson; children Brent (Amy) and Penny (Dave); grandson Ben;
sister-in-law Frances; aunt Phyllis Bernard (Saint John); and best
friend Judy (Johnson) Ross; as well as many friends and extended
family.
In addition to her parents, Mary Lee was predeceased by her
brother Brian Moore and nephew Roger Moore.
Due to COVID 19 restrictions, a celebration of Mary
Lee’s life will take place at a later date. In lieu of
flowers, a contribution to a charity of the donor’s choice
would be appreciated by the family.
