SMELSER, Marilyn Anne (nee Reece) R.N.
It is with great sadness that the family of Marilyn Smelser announces her passing on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at the Dunnville War Memorial Hospital after a long and courageous battle with cancer, in her 84th year. Beloved wife of William Smelser for nearly 60 years. Loving mother of daughter, Kimberly-Jo Metcalfe and cherished Nana of Granddaughter, Rebecca and Grandson, Michael Metcalfe. Marilyn nursed at the Dunnville War Memorial Hospital for 4 years and at West Haldimand General Hospital in Hagersville, Ontario for 32 years. Marilyn also volunteered in several Haldimand County organizations over the years, and with the A.C.W. at St. John the Divine Anglican Church in Cayuga. Many thanks to the staff at the Dunnville War Memorial Hospital who took care of Marilyn over the past 3 weeks, Rev. Holly Klemmensen (St. John the Divine Anglican Church), and the staff at Miller Funeral Chapel. Due to the current restrictions a private family graveside service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
