Margaret Corner
October 13, 1926 – December 07, 2020
Margaret passed away at the Caressant Care McLaughlin, Lindsay on Monday, December 07, 2020. Loving wife of Jack for 70 ½ years. Survived by her children Bryan (Barb), Brent (Cindy), Paul (Donna), Lois (Omar) and Mark. Predeceased by her siblings Robert (Norma) and William (Evelyn). Cherished by her ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. A city girl from Richvale, Mom loved to say that she was not a farmer’s wife but the wife of a farmer. Growing up on a dairy farm, we remember Mom always had a complete meal on the table and no one went away hungry. Saturdays were often spent making pies and desserts for the coming week and weekdays in the summer were spent in the vegetable garden and making preserves. Mom travelled across Canada, Europe, the UK and wintered in Florida with Dad for many years after retiring from farming life but her preferred place was always in her home in Canada. Mom was a quiet, reserved lady with a keen sense of humour. The comic section and the editorial cartoon were some of her favourite reads. At the cottage, Mom loved to putter in the garden and had many house plants that she attended to. A visit to Grandma’s cottage years ago usually entailed some type of craft making or colouring with her grandchildren. Word search puzzles became a past time after she could no longer knit; Mom knitted countless baby hats that were given to various organizations over the years. Her favourite read was her beloved Bible and she made every effort to read it even as her eyesight deteriorated over the years. Her support of various missionaries was unwavering. A private burial will take place at Cedar Vale Cemetery, Cannington. Due to COVID-19, a service will take place at a later date.
