Maher Maurice Khouzam Friday November 27th 2020

January 19, 1940 – November 27, 2020
Surrounded by his family, Maher passed peacefully in his own home, after a courageous fight against cancer. He was the beloved husband of Salwa Banoub Khouzam, cherished father of Chérine, Ingrid, and Myriam (Lisa), grandfather of Eva and Sasha Ellis. He will be greatly missed by his nephews and niece, Dr. Adel, Rami, and Dr. Maggy Kyrollos, and his family in law, Hoda Nassim, Dr. Mark Nassim, and Tania Gauder.
A generous man, Maher was always available to help his family and friends. He was a highly successful aeronautical engineer, who retired as Chief of Airworthiness at Transport Canada. He was also the recipient of various national and international awards in recognition of his impact on civil aviation.
As an active member of his community, he sat on several Boards of Directors. He was also a founding member of AISO, an agency that serves francophones with an intellectual disability. He was passionate about swimming, photography, and classical music.
His family wishes to thank Champlain LHIN and Bayshore Home Health personnel for their compassionate, professional care, notably Dr. Cindy Wang.
The Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, December 4th, 2020 at 11am. Although the service is private, the family wishes to invite friends and extended family to view the service Livestream. For those who will be attending remotely, this is the Zoom Link and technical support provided if needed.
For those wishing to make In Memorium donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Paroisse Saint-Gabriel, 55 Appleford Street, Ottawa, K1J 2T6 .
