It is with great sadness, that we announce that Lilly Seifried passed away on December 15th 2020. Lilly was born in Helenental and resettled as a child with her family in Germany in 1945, at the end of the war. Lilly had many fond and happy memories of her time living in Plon, Germany. As a young teenager, Lilly enjoyed being a part of a dance group, riding her bike with friends to nearby towns, as well as playing football (“soccer”) every opportunity she had. Lilly immigrated to Canada with her family in 1954, landing in Quebec and making their way by train to Medicine Hat, Alberta, where the family settled and began a new life. Here Lilly worked for many happy years at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital. She cherished her memories of work life at the hospital and friendships made. Lilly married William Seifried in September 1959, and the two of them have travelled through life’s many ups and downs together, for the past 61 years. Lilly will be lovingly remembered by her devoted husband, William; daughter, Doris (Tim) Sidlick; brother, Jakob Eichele; brothers-in-law, Gunther Seifried (Emma), Heintz Seifried (Susan); as well as numerous nieces and nephews and friends. Lilly was predeceased by her parents, Johann and Eva Eichele; her beloved son, Randy; as well as her sisters-in-law, Elfrieda Eichele, Hilda Ledarney, and brother-in-law, Mike Ledarney. Due to Covid -19 restrictions the family is having a private graveside service. The family wishes to extend a big thank you to all the wonderful staff at the Riverview Long Term Care Home, Meadowlands Retirement Residence, and the Home Care workers for the compassion, kindness and care they have provided these past few years. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church, 758 8 St SE, Medicine Hat, AB T1A 1M5 where Lilly was a devoted member of the Ladies Aid group, and congregation for many years.
