Stanley «Billy» Poole – 94, of Kentville, passed
away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Thursday, September 3, 2020
in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Bridgetown, he was
a son of the late Eugene and Edith (Tipert) Poole, New Germany. He is
survived by daughters, Nancy (Ian) Worthylake, Kentville and Donna
Poole, Brookside; grandchildren, Keven (Christy) Smith-Worthylake,
Ottawa, ON; Janice (Mark) Worthylake-Perry, Berwick and Brian (Nicole)
Worthylake, Carseland, AB; great grandchildren, Payton, Kaleb,
Madison, Jaden, Lucas, Kara, Conor and Finley; brothers, Morris
(Norma) and Gerald; sister, Lana. He was predeceased by his wife of 69
years, Winnifred «Winkie»; sister, Lucille and her husband,
BJ Hamm; sister-in-law, Sadie Poole and brother-in-law, Eugene
Veinotte. He was a veteran of the Second World War and a member of the
Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 102, New Germany. He worked 30 years
with Maritime Tel and Tel, maintained a woodlot and poured ceramics.
As a «Jack of all Trades», he spent many hours in his
basement workshop fixing, creating or modifying anything he put his
mind to; he loved a good challenge. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing,
snowmobiling and camping. Cremation has taken place. There will be no
visitation by request. A combined graveside service for Layton and
Winnifred, including a legion graveside tribute will be held at 2:00
p.m. on Monday, September 7, 2020 in the Epworth United Church
Cemetery, New Germany. Please bring your own lawn chair. A video
webcast of the service will be available at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday,
September 8, 2020 by visiting www.whitefamilyfuneralhome.com.
