Obituary
Peacefully at home in Dutton, surrounded by family Kathleen Delia Koebel passed away Saturday April 4, 2020 in her 74th year. Kathleen courageously survived breast cancer 8 years ago but recently succumbed to an aggressive cancer through a very short and difficult battle. Kathleen was born in Pontypool, South Wales on the fourteenth day of January 1947. With her family Kathleen immigrated to Canada in 1974 and settled in Chatham Ontario. The next 15 years was spent raising her family including spending every weekend and summers in Ipperwash. Many years was spent volunteering and making lifelong friends at the Chatham Hospital Auxilary. After meeting Gerry, Kathy moved to London in 1990. Kathy was brave enough to go back to school in her 40’s. She completed her Registered Nursing Assistant diploma and will be fondly remembered by many colleagues for years worked at the St. Thomas Elgin General hospital. After a few years in London they moved out to Dutton and enjoyed many years of running a Christmas tree farm. In retirement Gerry and Kathy enjoyed the last 11 winters with friends in Florida having card parties, playing games, and going to dances.
Due to current circumstances the funeral and burial has taken place Sunday April 5, 2020. A celebration of life will be held once it’s safe for family and friends to come together to honour this lovely lady.
Kathy is survived by her husband of 25 years Gerard Joseph Koebel; her children Michael Richardson (Cheryl), Joanne Richardson, and Christopher Richardson (Lesley); her grandchildren Trevor (Alex), Thomas (Corissa), Gareth, Spencer, Brendan, Dawson, Rachel, Carter, Evan, Casey and Avery. Kathy will be re-united with her precious daughter Claire Louise Bosma (Beba) who passed away in November of 2010. Kathy is pre-deceased by mother Delia Josephine Evans (Rowlands), Trevor Evans and father William George Gallivan.
Kathy also left behind step-daughters, Sherry (Andrew), Wendy; and grandchildren Tyler & Brianne.
Kathy is well known for her entertaining skills, baking, serving huge buffets, mouth-watering Welsh pastries, and Yorkshire pudding. Kathy had a heart of gold, a giving heart, and a thoughtful nature always thinking of others. We have so many wonderful memories of fun and laughter.
