Obituary of Jean Hiles
Jean Hiles (nee Blanchard)
1933 – 2020
Jean died peacefully at Douglas Memorial Hospital on December 9, 2020. She was 87. Happiest when helping people, Jean made a difference in the lives of countless individuals and families during her long career as a Registered Nurse (RN). A proud graduate of the Ottawa Civic Hospital School of Nursing, she received her silver rose in 2019, marking her 65th reunion. Some of her fondest memories were of times spent with alumnae colleagues and the lifelong friendships that ensued. Jean nursed in Sudbury, in Sault Ste. Marie where she assisted in establishing a rehab centre, and in Welland, Ontario. She loved Sudbury, the rocks and lakes of Northern Ontario, and Minnow Lake where she grew up. She loved her parents (predeceased) and her sisters, Carol (Kramarich), Lynn (McKittrick), Nancy (Kelly), and her brother Jim (Blanchard). She enjoyed a good laugh or better still, a political discussion. Ever curious, she loved to learn. She was a loyal and steadfast friend and gave of herself, always. Her love lives on in her children Linda (Hiles) and Randy (Hiles), and in her grandchildren, Alex (Alexandra) and Kristine. She was our one and only and will be missed forever. A celebration of Jean’s life will take place at a later date. For those wishing, In Memoriam donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the DAVIDSON FUNERAL HOME, 135 Clarence Street, Port Colborne. Online condolences, tributes and donations may be made through davidsonfuneralhome.com
Cremation has taken place.
