Jean’s Obituary
NEW GLASGOW – Jean Isabel Biggar, 94, New Glasgow, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2020 in Valley View Villa, Riverton.
Born in New Glasgow, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Annie (Dalling) Smith. Jean enjoyed a career in office administration, having been employed with Trenton Works, J.W. Smith, Sobeys Head Office and Bank of Montreal. Welcoming a career change, she became a real estate agent with Central and Eastern Trust for 10 years. Upon retirement, Jean continued to serve her community through volunteering with the New Glasgow Loinettes, Aberdeen Hospital Ladies Auxiliary Gift Shop and with the SPCA of Pictou County. For Jean, “Life has changed; not ended!”
Surviving are daughter, Marilyn Cote and her daughter, Elizabeth (Gina), Burnaby, B.C; grandson, Evan (Macy), and his mother Pearl, Edmonton, Alta.; brother, Harry (Barb) Smith, Kensington, P.E.I.; several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Earle; son Darryl.
In honour of Jean’s wishes, her family will celebrate her life privately. Interment will be in Lorne Street Cemetery, New Glasgow.
Donations, if desired, may be made in Jean’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or Victorian Order of Nurses, Pictou County Branch. (Please click to donate online)
